STÜKEN Sets Course for the Future

Groundbreaking Ceremony for New Electroplating Facility in Rinteln

Rinteln, June 17th, 2025 – With a ceremonial groundbreaking, STÜKEN today marked the start of construction on a state-of-the-art electroplating facility in the Rinteln-Süd industrial area. The internationally active, family-owned company is investing approximately 29.5 million euros to expand its technological portfolio — a strategic move aimed at strengthening its innovative capabilities, securing the long-term future of its Rinteln site, and reaffirming its strong commitment to the region.

The new facility ranks among the largest and most complex electroplating projects currently underway in Europe and represents one of the most significant initiatives in the company’s history. “It exemplifies the courage and entrepreneurial vision that have always defined STÜKEN,” said Dr. Uwe Krismann, CEO of STÜKEN. He extended special thanks to the shareholders and advisory board for their support during economically challenging times. “At a time when industrial production in Germany is declining, such an investment cannot be taken for granted.”

STÜKEN welcomed numerous invited guests to the event, including Schaumburg County Commissioner Jörg Farr, Rinteln Mayor Andrea Lange, architects, technical planners, members of the press, as well as representatives of the works council, the project team, the shareholders, the advisory board, and company leadership. The ceremonial groundbreaking served as the highlight of the event, which also offered a look back at the project’s development so far. From the outset, the large-scale project has been characterized by focused and collaborative efforts between the city, the district, local authorities, technical planners, and the STÜKEN project team—allowing the original project timeline to be shortened by approximately six months.

While final building permits are still pending and construction will officially begin only once they are granted, the ceremony itself marks a major milestone in the company’s development. “With this investment, we are laying the foundation for groundbreaking solutions in surface technology,” explained Dr. Krismann. “The new electroplating facility will cover an area of around 5,000 square meters and is a cornerstone of our transformation strategy. Our goal is to offer innovative, integrated, and sustainable deep drawing solutions.”

The new facility will feature electroplating and chemical processes that significantly expand STÜKEN’s expertise in technical surfaces. These include thin- and multi-layer coating systems for electrical contacts, corrosion protection solutions, surface finishing such as anodizing, electrochemical polishing, and titanium part pickling. Target markets include e-mobility, medical technology, sensor systems, and energy technology. STÜKEN is also setting new benchmarks in sustainability: the facility will operate in a largely CO₂-neutral manner using photovoltaic systems, heat pumps, and heat recovery. It will meet the highest standards in environmental protection, occupational safety, fire protection, and modern intralogistics. Commissioning is scheduled for the second half of 2027, with around 15 employees initially working in the new division.

“STÜKEN remains a strong development partner for our customers and a reliable employer in the region,” said Dr. Krismann. The courage to break new ground is deeply embedded in the company’s DNA. Echoing a quote from Christel Schwarz about her father, company founder Hubert Stüken, Dr. Krismann concluded: “Bold and forward-looking—this project was born in exactly that spirit.”
